P.PICCININI and R.SWALLOW

Piccinini- The work The Young Family is a peculiar sight which is modeled on a pig-like figure. The texture of the skin for example is incredibly realistic and is comprised of a few materials including silicon, polyurethane, leather and hair. I personally believe that Piccinini has uses some kind of basic mould and then somehow carved out finer details to give a realistic finish.

Swallow- I-man prototypes 2001 is a sculpture containing four skulls which symbolize the popular I-mac computer. Swallow uses resin injected into moulds for the shape of the skulls. The technique is quite effective as it leaves a glossy finish and the resin's transparent quality gives it a futuristic feel.
